ChatterBox v1.29ß
(C) 1994, H.A.U. [Help All Users]
(C) 1994, The CALCULUS Group
by Phillip White and Partner
a.k.a. Dream WEaver and Spider Man
Ok. We wrote this cause everytime we opened a chat [PPE] made by someone
else, claiming to be better than the other guys, they always failed! One
would have garble from the modem regarded as actual entered data, another
would cure this but would be *real* plain looking with a little pin strip
separating remote from sysop chat. Some even made you think it was about
to write to the line underneath for pete's sake. More over, one guy who
don't know, didn't know what the CHR() was for the ESC key so ya had to
hit the ALT-Q to get out.
We didn't take long to write this [PPE] but was a little tricky at some
points and the source is only 352 lines therefore this [PPE] is FREE!!!
I dislike some of the authors who quickly write some short [PPE] and want
to make millions on it! If they don't they put some damned DELAY in the
compiled code and some UNREGISTERED's all over to bore ya to death;)
What you have here is a [PPE] designed by the PPLC v2.0 made by Clarke
Development Company for PCBoard. CHATTERBOX is a *split* screen chat that
directly replaces the builtin CHAT in PCBoard. Because CHATTERBOX was
compiled with version 2.0 of the PPLC, I would advise that it be run on
PCBoard v15.1ß or better. Anyone that owns 15.0 can d/l the 15.1ß direct
from SALT-AIR BBS @801-261-8976.
Installation
You can put CHATTER.PPE in two places...
RECORD #333 of PCBTEXT: (Recommended)
Execute MKPCBTXT.EXE from your \PCB\GEN directory or wherever you decided
to put your PCBTEXT file. (This is the file that translates output).
Press F3 and enter 333. This will bring you to record #333. You will see
Hello, this is @OPTEXT@.~~ and underneath will be the line that you enter
!C:\PCB\CHAT\CHATTER.PPE
Of course your's may differ, just enter the complete path and name of the
[PPE]. Note the ! as the first charachter. This tells PCBoard that it is
executing a [PPE]. That's it! Now when you press the spacebar to answer
a page or press F10, CHATTERBOX will come up.
FUNCTION KEYS
Execute PCBSETUP from each node's main directory ie, \PCB and goto:
G - Configuration Options than H - Function Keys.
Pick an available spot and put
!C:\PCB\CHAT\CHATTER.PPE
If you put it under function key #10, the next time you want to activate a
Chat you can hit SHIFT + F10 and you enter CHATTERBOX directly.
I believe that about raps it up for now. We plan to add an online user
editor and a whole bunch of nice things to CHATTERBOX, but first wanted to
get this version out there.
